Stone President, Greg Koch and Celebrator Beer News writer, Rich Link judging the Barley Wine category at the 1997 Del Mar Fair homebrew competition.

The "Tap Handle Man" Dave Park makes our tap handles for us at the brewery. This involved process includes drilling holes into the stones with a special tool, which creates a lot of dust and noise (thus the dust mask and ear protectors).
Our promo booth at the 1997 Del Mar Fair. We won the 1st Place Blue Ribbon for best booth of the entire fair!
Here's some of the guys next to the very first pallets of Stone Pale Ale 22oz. case boxes. (Left to Right) Lee Chase, Steve Wagner, Tim Farwell.

This is the first bottling run we made. There's a view of our new case box there too.
A tasting of 32 specialty Belgian beers brought to us by our friends Chris and James. (Left to Right) Steve, James, Greg, two friends, and Chris.

Hey Steve! That brewing gig doesn't look that tough!
(Our gargoyle watches over the boil
with Head Brewer Steve Wagner.)

The Society of Barley Engineers booth at the 1997 Southern California homebrewer's Festival. These guys brew some really outstanding (and award winning!) beers.
The Stone Brewing Co. brewery (circa 1996) --- its not very big, but it can sure produce some delicious ales!! Left-right: Mash/Lauter Tun, Kettle, Whirlpool, Bright Beer Tank, Fermenters 1-4 (Not pictured: Hot Liquor Tank & Cold Liquor Tank).
The 1996 Pizza Port brewery bus tour. These guys were great and we enjoyed having the group visit our brewery. It was very amusing hearing a yellow school bus full of adults chanting "Stone, Stone, Stone, Stone. . . ." as they pulled away after their visit.
