Much like the lacerative muther of a beer that is Double Bastard Ale, rye whiskey is not for everyone. Most are not emotionally or otherwise equipped to appreciate its unbridled intensity. So to sequester Double Bastard Ale in rye whiskey barrels is to conceive an experience that no doubt will be treasured by only a select few. It takes a special breed of exceptional depth to thrive under such demanding conditions and emerge with such stunning vibrancy. Namely, Double Bastard Ale. Something this sublime should never be squandered, however. Those plagued by even a smidge of self-doubt should look elsewhere. Aged in Templeton Rye Whiskey Barrels

This beer is a close relative of Southern Charred, Double Bastard Ale’s bourbon barrel-bolstered incarnation. This one is just as mind-blowing and intense yet with elevated spice and vanilla character from the barrels. Rye whiskey melds midpalate with Double Bastard Ale’s colossal hop and malt presence, adding dimension to the beer’s already deep caramel-like flavors.

A collaboration with craft brewing legend Todd Haug. Todd was intrigued with the idea of überizing (wasn't a real word before, but it is now) the Berliner Weisse style and wanted to further überize (how quickly a new word can find its way into the lexicon) with the addition of ginger root and Citrus Hystrix leaf. They worked perfectly, as you'll see. Todd and our co-founder Greg Koch both agreed they'd never tasted anything quite like it before, and absolutely loved it when it was freshly bottled. Now, after a few years of careful cellaring, it has matured with flavors equally awesome, but even more interesting. We invite you to pick up a bottle and taste along with Greg and Todd, who recently both opened their own aged bottles from their respective personal cellars. Imperial stout inspired by Mexican hot chocolate

This is a beloved stout. When first introduced as a limited special collaboration release with Cerveceria Insurgente and San Diego homebrewer Chris Banker (after his recipe won our annual homebrew competition), it was an instant hit and fans began clamoring for its return. Seeing as how its amazing flavor profile is evocative of Mexican hot chocolate, featuring coffee, pasilla peppers, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a generous amount of chocolate, we concluded it was the perfect stout to re-release in celebration of the Holidays and the entire winter season. This is now a highly anticipated yearly tradition that we are pleased to present from us to you and makes a perfect wintry gift from you to your friends, loved ones, or simply to yourself. Cheers!
