2015 Stone Old Guardian Barley Wine Extra Hoppy 22oz Btl - Sold Out
This one-time-only release, part of our “Odd Beers for Odd Years” series, takes a downright excessive brew into the uncharted, extra-hoppy territory. We did this by dry-hopping it with Azacca hops, essentially turning an American barley wine into a triple IPA. Azacca adds big candied-fruit character plus pineapple and citrus aromatics to the base beer’s onslaught of toffee, tropical fruit, and vanilla flavors and robust bitterness. Like its Classic counterpart, this delicious oddity will evolve into an even more glorious beer with age, challenging your ability to wait any longer to drink it.

2016 20th Anniv Encore: 6th Anniversary Porter 22oz Btl - Sold Out
This beer was re-released as part of our Stone 20th Anniversary Encore Series in 2016. For our 6th anniversary in 2002, we made an intensified version of Stone Smoked Porter. We cranked up the malts and hops a notch or three and conditioned it on French and American oak, which accentuated our porter’s distinctive smokiness and amplified its chocolate and roast coffee flavors while also adding subtle notes of toffee, cherries, dried berries, and vanilla. We’re proud to give those who missed out—as well as those who didn’t—a fresh shot at experiencing this smoky, dark-as-night wonder.

Faux Swizzle was a fun dive into the possibilities of combining bright fresh citrus flavors and an herbal fragrance in our brewing process while paying homage to one of the classic tiki drinks of the 1940s created by Don the Beachcomber, the godfather of tiki himself. This imperial sour wheat opens with a nose of fresh lime rind and subtle licorice. Faux swizzle is kettle soured with demerara sugar leaving a rich mouthfeel while finishing with a welcoming tartness. Whole star anise, Azacca, and Citra hops adds a depth of juicy citrus with notes of lychee and stone fruit while the addition of lime rounds out the tart finish. At 8% abv this imperial sour drink is impressively smooth and is just as refreshing as it is unique.

Brewing beer isn't always about simply making something tasty (although that's usually the main goal). It's art, and in making art, we're often inspired by the people in our lives. Originally brewed for a beer festival whose proceeds support breast cancer research, this beer is named for a breast cancer survivor - Violetta Iris Dirkmaat, the mother-in-law of our Senior Manager of Brewing & Innovation Steve Gonzalez. It's pleasantly sweet (like her!] with an unexpected combination of orange and raspberry, and a lesser-known New Zealand hop variety called Moutere. Raise a glass of this rose-colored beer to the strength of survivors, and Violeta's motto: Volharden.

This profoundly complexed beer will overwhelm all but the most stalwart beer fanatics with its level of intensity. Rich coffee, bitter and milk chocolate characteristics abound, while dark charred oak, rich vanilla and caramel from the bourbon barrels synergistically elevate and further enhance the ultra-intense taste of the original beer. The name we chose for this heady creation, “Fyodor”, is a tip of the hat to Fyodor Dostoyevsky, one of the greatest, most influential novelists of Russia’s Golden Age.
