Guardian’s Slumber (2013 Stone Old Guardian Barley Wine aged in Bourbon Barrels)
Event Overview

Sundays are when we dive deep into our cellar and bring up some fabulous vintage bottles for our fans. At opening, we’ll have a limited number of bottles of something outside our core lineup. Some limits may apply depending on release quantities.

Style: Barrel Aged Barley Wine

Tasting Notes: 2014 SERIES BATCH NO. 2Guardian’s Slumber (2013 Stone Old Guardian Barley Wine aged in Bourbon Barrels)BREWED December 16th, 2012We tinker with the recipe for this hopped-up behemoth each year; the 2013 version was rich, smooth and malty, finishing with strong citrus and tropical fruit hop notes and a pleasant lingering bitterness.

AGED 13 MONTHS in Kentucky bourbon barrels.

2014CELLAR NOTES: A special shipment of Kentucky bourbon barrels provided the perfect hibernation vessels for one of our most massive brews. We sequestered the beer away, letting it sleep for over a year to wake just in time for the 2014 release of Stone Old Guardian Barley Wine. Massive oak flavors from its long rest in the barrels complement the beer’s hefty malt character, marrying with delicious layers of caramel and vanilla from the bourbon-infused wood.
